Francisca Henneman
Francisca’s work always begins with the creation of a new visual form using repurposed materials. Often sourced from industry, these materials are saved from the waste stream—primarily industrial rubber and silicone.
Working directly with the material in her hands, she shapes her ideas into structures. She incorporates traditional craft techniques such as crocheting and knitting. By working intuitively, her creations seem to grow beneath her fingertips. The resulting objects appear as though they’ve emerged from the deep sea—evoking coral or other mysterious organisms, which is why they are often given Latin names.
